By India Today News Desk: At least 10 members of a family died on the spot after a Bolero collided with a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district late on Wednesday evening. Several people, including a child, were injured in the road accident and the minor has been rushed to a hospital. The collision took place on Kanker National Highway near Jagatra.
It is said the family was heading to Markatola from Soram when the fateful accident occurred.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Jitendra Kumar Yadav, SP Balod, said, “10 were killed and one child was seriously injured after a truck and car collided near Jagatra in Balod district. The injured has been referred to Raipur for better treatment. The search for the driver of the truck is underway.”
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief over the loss of lives and wished for the speedy recovery of the girl-child who had been injured in the accident.
Shortly after the accident, Purur police reached the spot and the bodies were sent to a hospital for postmortem.
The police have also registered an FIR.
