Poorna Jagannathan reveals Ayan Mukerji had not written the ending of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani when

Poorna Jagannathan, in a recent interview, shared an interesting behind-the-scenes tidbit about the beloved film ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani‘. As the movie celebrated its 10-year anniversary, the cast members reminisced about their experiences. However, Poorna Jagannathan, who played a significant role as a TV anchor in the film, had an intriguing story to tell.
When asked about her involvement in the movie, Poorna revealed that Ayan Mukerji, the director, had not finalized the film’s ending when they began filming. It was a surprising revelation considering the tremendous success the film eventually achieved. Poorna recalled her initial thoughts, wondering how they would manage without a complete script. Despite the uncertainty, the movie went on to become the highest-grossing film of the year.
Poorna also shared her experience of shooting a scene with Ranbir Kapoor on a boat. She found it both amusing and nerve-wracking. During the shoot, Ayan and his team were still writing the script, and Poorna had dialogues in Hindi, which wasn’t her first language (Tamil was). As a result, she needed additional time and assistance to ensure her delivery was accurate.
Although Poorna had started her Hindi film career with movies like ‘Delhi Belly’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, she hasn’t been seen in Bollywood films since then. Reflecting on this, she mentioned that she hasn’t received any offers from the industry lately. Despite that, Poorna is well-known for her outstanding performances in projects like ‘The Night Of’ and ‘Never Have I Ever’.
