RTI activist arrested for derogatory remarks on PM Modi, Amit Shah

By Dipesh D. Tripathi: The Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested an RTI activist from Maharashtra’s Chanderai village in Ratnagiri district for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP leader Kirit Somaiya through social media. The accused has been identified as Ghulam Qazi by the police.

Police said Qazi issued death threats to PM Modi and the others using his social media accounts. A case was filed at the Sakinaka Police Station by Kirit Somaiya under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

This comes weeks after the Kerala Police arrested a man for sending a letter threatening a suicide bomb attack on PM Modi ahead of his visit to Kerala in April.
