Skincare habits you should say goodbye in 2023 – Times of India

If we don’t care enough, the skin can become a victim of early ageing, appearing dull and dry before its time. Something very simple that we can do to keep a check on our skin health is to keep a tab on our routines and habits. It’s important to ensure that the texture is healthy and we have glowing skin.
To achieve healthy, nourished and glowing skin in 2023, one should say goodbye to the below-mentioned skin care habits.

1. Washing your face excessively
Believe it or not, natural oils produced by the skin are good for you, so avoid overindulging in your new routines. Additionally, wash your face twice daily as opposed to repeatedly.
2. Ignoring your chest and neck
To complement your already flawless facial routine, regular nourishing and massaging of the neck and chest will encourage a healthy and tighter appearance.

3. Using makeup with SPF and no sunscreen
The SPF in cosmetics needs to be improved to provide complete protection, and we often don’t use it in the recommended amounts. Therefore, if you have decided to use it, be sure to layer it with sunscreen.

4. Utilizing excessive actives
The skin will break out, the skin barrier will be compromised, and excessive use of potent serums with high percentages may even result in pigmentation.

5. Pick, pop, and pluck
Avoid touching or picking at your pimples and zits. They are susceptible to infection, which can exacerbate acne.

6. High-pigmented makeup
Using excessive amounts of cosmetics with high pigmentation, such as blue and green eyeshadow, coloured mascara, and kajals can be highly irritating and difficult-to-clean. As a result, they frequently induce irritating contact dermatitis around the eyes.

7. Keep it basic
It is suggested to follow a simple regimen that can be kept up and is thus reliable—maintaining a regular skin care regimen.

8. Have a healthier diet
You must stop consuming the foods and drinks that disrupt your hormones if you want better skin. Try to consume sugar, pasteurised dairy, cocoa, and spicy meals minimally as they contain ingredients that might cause diseases like acne, rosacea, and allergies. Instead, include more colourful fruits and vegetables in your diet because they are packed with minerals, antioxidants, and other substances that will help to hydrate and provide suppleness to your skin from the inside out.

9. Have sound sleep
Sleep catalyses the regeneration process in our body, which keeps cell turnover at a regular level. Lack of sleep decreases the creation of collagen, protein that keeps skin healthy and free of wrinkles, and controls stress hormone, i.e., cortisol. For good skin, make it a point to get 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night.
